How Will You Be Remembered?

As Memorial Day approached, I couldn't help but think about all the brave men and women who have sacrificed everything for America. Many people have lost loved ones due to their commitment and sacrifice. I, personally, have several men and also a few women in my own immediate family that have served.

I recall a conversation that I recently had with my uncle, Joe. He served in the Gulf War. He was in the 1st Armoured Division aka (1stAD ), referred to as the Old Ironside King of Battle. He told me that he was not on the front line but actually he was the front line meaning that there was nothing in front of him except for the enemy. He was in a Howitzer battle tank, able to kill from 100 yards to 22 miles away with pinpoint accuracy. I recall him telling me some of the gruesome, PTSD worthy things that he had seen in that desert.

One of the reasons he was told that they were going to war was because the enemy was creating weapons of mass destruction and that America had to go and kill the enemy before the weapons could bring death and turmoil to American soil. Without question, they were off to fight because, as he would tell you, that is what soldiers do.

The estimated number of deaths, from Iraqi Military to the civilians, reached approximately anywhere from 146,000 - 206,000. All of these people died because of the fear of weapons of mass destruction. Unfortunately, the truth came out later on that there were never any weapons of mass destruction and that everyone that died actually died for no reason. Almost 200,000 people killed, families ruined and hope shattered, all because of a lie that many soldiers fought valiantly for.

My uncle's exact words were, "I saw a lot of that during war in the dessert, a lot of it. I did, based on a straight up lie. God, forgive me."

After completely risking everything to fight and potentially die for a government that lied to him, my uncle no longer has faith in the government. Although my grandpa doesn't talk about it often, he has also alluded to having the same sense of disgust and betrayal when the war in Vietnam is brought up -- A war that he gained three purple hearts from. All over, from America to countries in the Middle East, brave men and women are putting their lives on the line for governments and kingdoms that have shown nothing but corruption and dishonesty.

The Bible says that Jesus came to establish a new Government. A government that is built off truth and real justice a Government with only one king that cannot be voted out.

"6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 AMPC

We are all too familiar with putting our livelihood in jeopardy based off of lies, whether that be a job that you were promised or a lie from the people that you love most. No matter the situation or the circumstance, we have all fell hard at some point over a lie. Now, Jesus says that He's offering us an opportunity to risk it all for the Truth.

'6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me." John 14:6 AMPC

Despite many people risking their lives for lies, we still stand and show tremendous honor and respect to those people who have fallen chasing after lies. What about to the people who have died standing for truth?

"9 When the Lamb broke open the fifth seal, I saw at the foot of the altar the souls of those whose lives had been sacrificed for [adhering to] the Word of God and for the testimony they had borne. 10 They cried in a loud voice, O [Sovereign] Lord, holy and true, how long now before You will sit in judgment and avenge our blood upon those who dwell on the earth? 11 Then they were each given a long and flowing and festive white robe and told to rest and wait patiently a little while longer, until the number should be complete of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed as they themselves had been." Revelation 6:9-11 AMPC

We have been so eager and proud to put our lives to the side for lies, willing to be away from spouses and children, and even willing to no longer be known as people but as property, belonging to a government. At what point will we consider doing the same for God?

"24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also]. 25 For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting]." Matthew 16:24- 25 AMPC

Risking your life based on a lie will get you remembered by men for a few years and perhaps a free meal once a year, but risking your life based on the truth will get you remembered by God forever and a seat at His table for all of eternity.

"4 And this is a cause of our mentioning you with pride among the churches (assemblies) of God for your steadfastness (your unflinching endurance and patience) and your firm faith in the midst of all the persecutions and crushing distresses and afflictions under which you are holding up. 5 This is positive proof of the just and right judgment of God to the end that you may be deemed deserving of His kingdom [a plain token of His fair verdict which designs that you should be made and counted worthy of the kingdom of God], for the sake of which you are also suffering." 2 Thessalonians 1:4-5 AMPC

Question of the Day: Are you ready to give your all to the only government that will actually be standing till the end?

"44 And in the days of these [final ten] kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break and crush and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever." Daniel 2:44 AMPC
