As It Is In Heaven

Growing up, some of the moments I cherished the most occurred whenever we lost power during a snow-storm. My entire family would be snowed in together, forced into sharing everything and banding together to survive life without power. I remember going to get wood for the chimney with my dad and coming back to a house full of my relatives.
Each year, in my heart I would hope for those events to take place that would allow my family to be stuck inside, cherishing one another. How amazing that was as child to see everyone in my family and some extended family coming together to share a house. However, once the power would come back on, my fantasy would quickly be over and it seemed as though everyone was right back to their regular schedule.
We all have become so infatuated with the chase of the American dream that we have lost sight of the American families. Even in my adulthood, I would crave for my family to live as one, to all come together and work together, eat together and sleep together. In the world, this is how family empires are built - by sacrificing personal pleasures and pursuits in order to achieve a longer lasting goal as a group. What I’ve noticed is that the Kingdom of Heaven is very similar.
When we accept Christ, we let go of our selfish pursuits and desires and conform perfectly to fit inside the body of Christ - with each person representing a specific body part and all working together for one specific purpose of making more disciples.
“3 Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves]. 4 Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. 5 Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]” - Philippians 2:3-5 AMPC
One of the most famous lines in the Bible is, “Let thy kingdom come, let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
“10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” - Matthew 6:10 AMPC
We see Jesus coming from heaven and bringing the blueprints for how to live and exist amongst each other with Him. We see Him humble Himself and dwell amongst the people that He was leading. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled Himself in a way that He not only became like us, but also dwelt among us - sharing houses, sharing food and also sharing His money.
“14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.” - John 1:14 AMPC
Unfortunately, this is the leadership that the world lacks and is in desperate need of today. A spiritual leader that will not only share with you the pure, uncontaminated truth in love, but also has the compassion and care to share lodging and his material belongings. We are in desperate need for a leader that is a man of the people, for the people, by the people.
Some of the closest people to mimic this are very well thought of amongst us today.
After Jesus instilled this mentality into His disciples, we see that after His death they also laid a foundation for every believer to live the same way. In the book of Acts, some may say that they see the first Church, others may say they see Christians. Both are correct, but more importantly, what was truly shown is a group of people coming together and putting on full display the life and love of Christ by putting their desires aside and becoming one.
“44 And all who believed (who adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus Christ) were united and [together] they had everything in common; 45 And they sold their possessions (both their landed property and their movable goods) and distributed the price among all, according as any had need. 46 And day after day they regularly assembled in the temple with united purpose, and in their homes they broke bread [including the Lord’s Supper]. They partook of their food with gladness and simplicity and generous hearts, 47 Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all the people; and the Lord kept adding [to their number] daily those who were being saved [from spiritual death].” - Acts 2:44-47 AMPC
With each person, with each act of devotion, we see 3,000 people forming the first Church - not built by hands, but built by the consummation of a body of believers laying down their lives, allowing each person’s body to resemble one brick in the foundation of the church with Jesus Christ becoming the very cornerstone from which the building was first orchestrated.
We see people all over are willing to join gangs or even go from church to church looking for something real, something that will last and fufill the emptiness inside of them. This doesn’t exist in religion. It only exists in God’s kingdom.
Question of the Day: Will we make it to heaven without using the blueprint that Jesus died for us to have?
